How do we activate local communities to increase incidental interactions in our neighbourhoods?
The Innovation in Ageing Challenge sought teams with the smarts, energy and drive to create connected communities where older people can thrive - the process has now concluded for 2018.
As a result of the Challenge process, four teams have been selected to develop their ideas further. These teams have been funded a share of $100,000 from Office for the Ageing and will receive ongoing mentoring from The Australian Centre for Social Innovation to do this. More information about each of the successful applicants can be found here.
In line with the focus of the Challenge, the ideas of the successful applicants are focussed towards fostering ‘neighbourliness’ - encouraging incidental social interaction, building a sense of belonging, safety and inclusivity. They have also demonstrated capacity and a commitment to work with older people in further developing their ideas.
